The El Bandito Cortez 2023 is a pure, visceral expression of Chenin from a single vineyard in the Paardeberg. Craig and Carla Hawkins have been working this vineyard since Testalonga’s inception, and it always yields great acidity and a low pH – producing wines that evolve beautifully. This is a special Chenin for the connoisseur who appreciates refinement, detail, finesse and energy.

Craig and Carla make terroir-driven wines that are upbeat and fresh. Focusing on the Swartland, they celebrate authenticity and wine in its most unadulterated form. Testalonga El Bandito Cortez Chenin Blanc 2023

‘Grapes from a Paardeberg vineyard planted in 1972. The nose is shy but nevertheless compelling with traces of pear, peach, green apple, herbs, earth and some flinty reduction. The palate is intense but not weighty – great fruit delineation, snappy acidity and a bone-dry finish. A wine that pulls together wonderfully well – just about pitch-perfect.
