Dear *|FNAME|*,
The Thienpont family’s winemaking roots stretch back to 1842, when Camille Thienpont founded a wine trading company in Belgium. In 1921, Georges Thienpont set his sights on Bordeaux and purchased Troplong Mondot in Saint-Émilion, followed by Vieux Château Certan, Pomerol, in 1924. Puygueraud, Larcis Ducasse, Pavie Macquin, Le Pin, and L’If all followed, and today, the Thienponts are firmly established on the Right Bank as one of the prominent families – Bordeaux royalty, so to speak.
In an exciting collaboration with Wine Cellar, François Thienpont – grandson of the famous Georges Thienpont, and co-owner of Vieux Château Certan, Puygeraud and more – will host two events. The first is a classic tasting at Wine Cellar Observatory, and the second a world-class tasting and dinner at Christophe Dehosse’s The Vine Bistro, Glenelly.
Brilliant Bordeaux – A Right Bank Journey with François Thienpont – R650
Thursday, 9 February, Wine Cellar Observatory
Join Wine Cellar and François Thienpont as we taste the iconic Vieux Château Certan alongside other leading wines from the Thienpont family. Whilst they're famous for their acquisition of Vieux Châteaux Certan in the 1920s, their influence and reach into the Right Bank has gone beyond the hallowed soils of Pomerol. The line-up will feature Bordeaux Blancs from the Right Bank (a growing category) as well as a variety of reds, including the ever-impressive Puygueraud Rouge. This is a tasting for all wine lovers and is not to be missed!
Bordeaux Royalty – Dinner with François Thienpont – R1 950

The tasting will conclude with a relaxed three-course dinner, tailored to the wines. Chef Christophe Dehosse of The Vine Bistro will be combining his French heritage with the best local ingredients.
