Our new October Insiders’ case is geared for summer. At just over R 1,000, the selection provides great value – especially given the high-scoring wines we've included. We're also delighted to offer a small parcel of delicious Cape Vintage fortified wines from the 1980s – directly from Overgaauw's cellars. Don't miss out on the new vintages from Dominique Lafon who is considered to be one of the finest winemakers in France and the master of Meursault (and Mâcon). The fruit-driven, Petits Grains by Frédéric Mabileau is a delicious summer red and, lastly, check out Peter-Allan Finlayson's highly-acclaimed Gabriëlskloof Landscape Series range.

Overgaauw Cape Vintage – Decades of pleasure
R 995 per bottle
Overgaauw pioneered the Port-style category in the Cape when they introduced these varieties in the 1940s. We are excited to offer a selection of these Cape Vintage fortified wines from the 1980s. Sourced directly from Overgaauw's deep cellars, they are in top condition. Time has allowed the sugar and alcohol to soften and ageing has created incredible complexity and flavour in these wines.

Domaine des Comtes Lafon & Héritiers du Comte Lafon
From R 465 per bottle
'Dominique Lafon is currently making the best wines of his career,' wrote Neal Martin after tasting the 2018 and 2019 sets from the godfather of white Burgundy. Don’t miss the chance to get your hands on the last few bottles of the coveted Domaine des Comtes Lafon, in Meursault, and his biodynamic project, Héritiers du Comte Lafon, in the Mâconnais. The Héritiers from Lafon often rival some of their Côte d’Or neighbours in quality and definitely in pricing, and age remarkably well.

Frédéric Mabileau, Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil Les Petits Grains 2016
R 315 per bottle
Frédéric Mabileau’s Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil Les Petits Grains 2016 echoes Vinous writer Jason Wilson's sentiment: 'Over the past decade, quality in Loire has taken a huge leap forward.' Cabernet Franc has found a resurgence among young wine lovers who enjoy fragrant, fruit-driven wines, not lacking intensity and character. This 2016 is a pure expression of its sandy-gravel terroir. Raised in 100% stainless steel tank, it offers crunchy red and blue fruit supported by an alluring bouquet of fresh, floral and herbaceous complexity. It's a delicious summer wine when served slightly chilled.

As for the Cabernet Franc, 'bottling it as a single variety was an easy decision,' says Peter-Allan.
