Dear *|FNAME|*,
Beaujolais’ historic Château Thivin ranks amongst ‘the reference points for classical, age-worthy cru Beaujolais’, notes the Wine Advocate. This is the oldest estate on Mont Brouilly, with the 15th century château built on an ancient volcano!
Brouilly and Côte de Brouilly are two of Beaujolais’ 10 Crus. They’re the darlings of wine geeks, critics, and sommeliers alike, showing the more serious and sophisticated side of the Gamay grape. Thivin’s Brouilly Reverdon is no ordinary Brouilly. Reverdon is a lieu-dit on the granitic lower slopes of the Côte de Brouilly, and the 2021 is floral, foresty, precise and sophisticated with a dense fruit core. From high-altitude, south-east facing holdings, Thivin’s famous Les Griottes de Brulhié from Côte de Brouilly is next level – it has amazing verve and complexity, with fine tannins and a long, salty finish.

2021 in Beaujolais has ‘turned out very well’. After a difficult growing season with hail and frost, this vintage shows a return to a cooler, crunchier style of Beaujolais after a stretch of warm vintages.
Château Thivin was founded in 1877 by the Geoffray family with two hectares, and today spans 17 hectares. The Côte de Brouilly appellation was created in 1938, largely thanks to Zacharie’s Geoffray’s tireless work. Check out their entire range here, including a rare white wine, Thivin Beaujolais Blanc Clos de Rochebonne 2021 from 100% Chardonnay. These energetic, seamless wines are approachable in youth, but they’re also built to age.
We have a few more seats available for our tasting trip through Beaujolais on the 5th of April. Book now

Tasting notes
Thivin Brouilly Reverdon 2021
‘Ripe, rounded and packed with black plum fruits and soft tannins, this is a full and generous wine. Aged in wood, the wine has opened up to give richness and spice. Drink this attractive wine from 2025.’ – Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 91/100
Thivin Côte de Brouilly Les Griottes de Brulhié 2021
‘Bursting with aromas of sweet red berries, rose petals, cracked pepper and orange rind, the 2021 Côte de Brouilly Les Griottes de Brulhié is medium to full-bodied, taut and tangy, with supple tannins, racy acids and a long, saline finish. From high-altitude, southeast-facing holdings, it's one of the more tensile wines in this year's portfolio.’ – William Kelley, Wine Advocate, 92/100
