Dear *|FNAME|*,
One of Bandol’s finest and most famous red wines, Domaine Tempier’s Bandol Rouge 2020 has just arrived. Movingly, this vintage has been named in memory of Lulu and Lucien Peyraud, the enigmatic duo who helped put Bandol and Mourvèdre on the fine wine map.
Tempier's flagship 2020 Bandol Rouge ‘Lulu & Lucien’ is a classic and will appeal to those who love the wines of the Rhône. It starts with pure black fruit, smoke, black olives, florals, and dried herbs, then moves with amazing energy and depth to graphite, stony minerality, a fleshy palate and tangy acidity. This blend of 75% Mourvèdre, 14% Grenache, 9% Cinsault and 2% Carignan is everything that Bandol Rouge stands for.

Tempier is famed for its long-lived, powerful, tannic reds from (mostly) Mourvèdre. Thanks to their limestone soils, the region’s red wines have a distinct freshness and fine structure. Both Lulu and Lucien were instrumental in establishing Bandol as its own AOC in 1941, and the refinement and longevity of their wines have made Domaine Tempier a true Grand Cru de Provence.
‘In 2020 Mrs Lucie Peyraud, better known as Lulu, passed away soon after the harvest, at the age of 103. She joined her husband Lucien in "Winemakers’ Paradise".’ – Domaine Tempier
Please let us know if you’re interested in receiving a private offer on their single-vineyard reds and Bandol Blanc.

Tasting notes
Tempier Bandol Rouge Lulu & Lucien 2020
‘Tasted from foudre, the 2020 Bandol Cuvee Classique had been blended the week before my visit. Already showing classic notes of tree bark and truffle layered against cherries and raspberries and a touch of olive, it looks relatively precocious. In the mouth, it's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and rich, with a long, plush finish.’ – Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, 91-93/100
‘Salty, herby and very southern. Good bite. No hurry to drink this!’ – Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5+/20
