‘48% Cinsaut, 35% Syrah, 17% Mourvèdre. The Cinsaut fermented for 4 days on the skins – whole bunch, the Syrah and Mourvedre pressed directly to barrel – is it a rosé or is it a “light red”? I don’t think Gouws knows but I don’t think he cares, either. Fuschia in colour, the nose shows raspberry, floral perfume and herbs while the palate is juicy and fresh with lightly grippy tannins. | Producer information | Intellego Wines are terroir driven from the Swartland Appellation. The Swartland experiences a warm, dry climate which is favourable to grape varietals such as Chenin Blanc, Syrah, Cinsaut and Mourvedre. By using small pockets of land on different sites, Intellego is able to produce wines with different personalities and characters. Intellego’s philosophy is to use minimal intervention and a hands-on approach during the winemaking process. They also follow organic practices. |
