‘Grapes from a Paardeberg vineyard on granite planted in the early 2000s. Whole-bunch fermented under semi carbonic conditions for seven days before maturation in old oak barrels for five months. Extremely primary aromatics at this stage – red-berry boiled sweets come to mind. The fruit is very much to the fore on the palate to go with snappy acidity, the finish quietly persistent. | Producer information | Intellego Wines are terroir driven from the Swartland Appellation. The Swartland experiences a warm, dry climate which is favourable to grape varietals such as Chenin Blanc, Syrah, Cinsaut and Mourvedre. By using small pockets of land on different sites, Intellego is able to produce wines with different personalities and characters. Intellego’s philosophy is to use minimal intervention and a hands-on approach during the winemaking process. They also follow organic practices. |
