Le Lude, Brut Rosé NV
'Exhibiting the magic touch that’s shared by all of Paul Gerber’s bubblies, this cuvée of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and a splash of Pinot Meunier comes from four different regions of the Western Cape. Lightly wooded, it’s a stunning rosé with still Pinot Noir adding colour. Red cherry, strawberry and a savoury tang are supported by a fine, elegant mousse. 2017-21.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2017, 94/100
Anselmo Mendes, Muros Antigos Escolha 2021
‘The 2021 Muros Antigos Escolha is a blend of 40% Loureiro, 40% Avesso and 20% Alvarinho, unoaked and coming in at 12.5% alcohol, plus something less than 1.5 grams of residual sugar and 6.8 grams of total acidity. A lovely blend and another fine value this year, this is bright and fresh but also surprisingly persistent without harshness. It is perfectly balanced. The Loureiro is asserting itself nicely in flavors and aromatics, making this blend extra appealing. It is very expressive, even as only a component in the blend. There is certainly reasonable concentration, but this is less about concentration than the crisp and fruity finish. It is harmonious and impossible to resist. It should hold a reasonable time, perhaps longer than indicated, but there is no reason to wait. 2022-2028’ – Mark Squires, Wine Advocate
Saurwein, Chi Riesling 2023
'Grapes from two sites in Elgin. Both nose and palate are currently entirely callow – pear and blossom with perhaps a touch of flinty reduction and green apple while the palate is overtly sweet. Lots of plump fruit, the acidity currently completely camouflaged. A residual sugar of 14.2g/l and total acidity of 7.9g/l gives rise to the thought that this wine will only show at its best in years to come but it appears unresolved for now.' – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za
Lievland, Liefkoos Rosé 2022
'An elegant dry rosé made from carefully selected Syrah and Mourvedre parcels on the Lievland estate. Pomegranate, red current, and cranberry aromas, with citrus peel and lively red fruit on the smooth palate. Extended lees contact gives the wine texture and richness.' – Winemaker
Van Niekerk Vintners, Rebellie 2021
‘From Grenache, 60% Anysbos grapes and 40% from another Bot River property called Nabot. 40% whole-bunch fermentation before maturation lasting 10 months in older oak. More assertive in terms of both aroma and flavour than previous vintages and that much better for it. Red berries (cherry and currant) along with rose, fynbos and white pepper on the nose while the palate has pure fruit, zippy acidity and nicely grippy tannins. A vital wine with good structure. Alcohol: 13%.’ – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 93/100
GD Vajra, Langhe Nebbiolo 2021
'Seductive with over notes of dark, brooding fruit. The palate is full of ripe cherry, bell pepper and warm spice. Mouthwatering acidity with delicate, integrated tannins. Long on the finish. 2023 - 2030.' – Dirceu Vianna Junior MW, Decanter, 91/100
