Puygueraud, Francs Cotes de Bordeaux Blanc 2016 – R 395
‘The 2016 Puygueraud Blanc is bright, crisp and intensely saline, with that classic touch of reduction that adds character and tension to the citrus, orchard fruit, sage and floral notes. This is very nicely done. The blend is 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Sauvignon Gris. In 2016, the Blanc is absolutely delicious. Tasted three times. 2018-2024’ – Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 91/100
Alheit Vineyards, Hereafter Here 2022 – R 295
‘Mostly a young vineyard Chenin Blanc, grapes from Swartland, Upper Blaauwklippen and Polkadraai Hills plus some older vine parcels from the Paardeberg. Some flinty reduction before pear, peach and citrus as well as some floral perfume on the nose. Good fruit density, well coated acidity and some light grip to the finish. Relatively thick textured (alc: 13.34%) with layers of flavour.’ – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 93/100
VineVenom, Shining NV – R 170
'From Paardeberg grapes, this is made in a Spanish-inspired, oxidative style – partially filled barrels, some light flor ageing and including a maderised component. Subtle and appealing aromatics of orange, red apple, cherry, spice and even a touch of earthiness. The palate is broad and gently flavourful. It’s an understated wine that hangs together well.' – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 91/100
Torre de Oña, Finca San Martín Crianza 2019 – R 265
‘The 2019 Finca San Martín is pure Tempranillo from the younger vines on richer soils, the grapes not used for Martelo that deliver rounder and fruitier wines. It fermented in stainless steel for 14 days with a slow malolactic of 74 days and matured in 60% new American oak barrels and 40% second-use French oak barrels for 16 months. It's round and fruity, with juicy fruit, round tannins and a gentle mouthfeel. It was bottled in September 2021. 2022 - 2026’ – Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, 91+/100
Three Quarters, Shiraz 2022 – R 230
‘Pretty aromatics of strawberry, rose, fynbos and hints of white pepper and other spice precede a palate that is light-bodied with lemon-like acidity and fine tannins, the finish possessing a saline quality. It’s a delicate, low-key wine that’s entirely charming as a result.’– Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 91/100
Chapoutier, Bila-Haut Rouge 2021 – R 185
‘Aromas of dark cherries, leaves, gunpowder and baking spices. It’s medium-bodied with crunchy dark cherries and some black pepper on the palate. Transparent and precise with a flavorful finish. From biodynamically grown grapes.’ – James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, 91/100
