Summary
    Produttori del Barbaresco, Langhe Nebbiolo 2020 – R 385
‘Produttori del Barbaresco makes its Langhe Nebbiolo with declassified Barbaresco fruit (often from parcels on lower slopes) so production volumes are notably reduced in the better vintages when more of the prime fruit finds its way into their delicious village Barbaresco DOCG or indeed one of the classy nine Cru Riservas. This young 2020 Nebbiolo certainly shows great promise with an immediately attractive array of aromatics that boast dark cherry, damson plum, sweet herbs, blood orange and a slight menthol top note. Always wonderfully intense and potent, the palate displays a medium bodied weight of red and black berry fruits, macerated strawberries and sweet cherries with an underlying cool, suave elegance and a fresh acid vitality. The finish is creamy and plush with soft plump tannins, subtle piquant black liquorice notes and a pure, weightless length. Delightfully streamlined and accessible, this 2020 continues a fine run of vintages for Produttori del Barbaresco. Drink from release and over 5 to 8 years.’ – Greg Sherwood MW, 92+/100

    Produttori del Barbaresco, Barbaresco 2018 – R 670
‘We all know when Produttori del Barbaresco decide not to bottle all their great nine grower crus, the resulting wines are all blended into the Barbaresco DOCG normale cuvee. 2018 is just such a vintage and sure enough, eager collectors have been waiting for this super charged Nebbiolo release. On initial examination, the wine shows the most pretty, lifted, inviting aromatics of dried rose petals, crushed coriander, tart red cherries, salty blueberries and a seductive red liquorice complexity. On the palate, there is an attractive translucent purity and silky filigree tannins that combine with a suave, lithe, harmonious concentration of red cherry candied fruits, touches of tar, saline cassis, sloe berries and a finish that typifies true, pure classical Nebbiolo fruit. While the seductive allure of the perfumed aromatics currently outpace the slightly backwardness of the palate fruit density and structure, all the signs in the glass point to another extremely fine and supremely attractive Barbaresco release. Drink from 2022 to 2034+.’ – Greg Sherwood MW, 94/100

    Produttori del Barbaresco, Pora 2017 – R 975
‘The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Pora (with 13,333 bottles released) is usually the first wine I taste each year when I review this set of Riservas from Produttori del Barbaresco. That's because it usually appears as the most delicate, and the intensity of each successive bottle increases after this one. But these schematics are a bit more difficult to align in a hot and dry vintage such as this that produced richer and more succulent fruit across the board. The Pora is redolent of red and purple fruit with a little more blackberry and plum compared to previous editions. The tannic strength of the wine is also more elaborate. Pora works very well in 2017. 2025-2048’ – Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, 94/100

    Produttori del Barbaresco, Asili 2017 – R 975
‘A clear and transparent Asili with floral, sage, crushed-stone, mushroom and berry aromas that follow through to a full body with round tannins that are a little aggressive, but in a good way. Crunchy and fresh at the end. Citrusy undertones. Savory. Better in a year or two.’ – James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, 96/100

    Produttori del Barbaresco, Rabaja 2017 – R 975
‘The Produttori del Barbaresco 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Rabajà is another spectacular release from this cooperative winery that hits it out of the ballpark with each set of new releases. That impressive track record includes this wine that delivers extreme focus, depth and integrity. The bouquet is very clear cut with dark cherry, tart plum, spice and blood orange, but it is also complex and fluid. It offers new perspectives with each swirl of the glass. From a hot vintage, the Rabajà is smooth, powerful and balanced. I would bet on long aging for this bottle. 2025-2050’ – Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, 96+/100

    Produttori del Barbaresco, Paje 2017 – R 975

    Produttori del Barbaresco, Rio Sordo 2017 – R 975
‘The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Rio Sordo has a mineral character and a sleek, firm approach that gives this wine its special identity. The wine is polished, almost glossy in texture with blackcurrant, plum and wild rose, and the tannins are gripping, although the Rio Sordo sports a lean to medium-rich density overall. 2025-2048’ – Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, 95/100

    Produttori del Barbaresco, Ovello 2017 – R 975
‘One of the bigger productions in the Produttori del Barbaresco's portfolio is the 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello. All of the Riservas in this vintage are characterized by especially exuberant and bold aromas, and this bottle is a prime example. Cassis, wild cherry, tobacco, rusty nail and licorice build intensity. The wine is tapered and silky in texture, but it also offers a good amount of power (and 15% alcohol) to carry it through the aging process. 2024-2045’ – Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, 94+/100

    Produttori del Barbaresco, Muncagöta 2017 – R 975
‘Offers a bright, pure expression of cherry, strawberry, rose and grassy aromas and flavors underscored by a vein of minerality, with tannins that flex their muscles on the long finish. Intense but balanced, with tension that bodes well for future evolution. Best from 2026 through 2043.’ – Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 95/100

    Produttori del Barbaresco, Montefico 2017 – R 975
‘Lots of white-truffle, ripe-strawberry and crushed-stone character. Full-bodied with a focused and pinpointed palate of flavors similar to the aromas. The tannins are polished and beautiful. Very elegant and sophisticated Rabaja. Drink after 2025 and onwards.’ – James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, 97/100

    Produttori del Barbaresco, Montestefano 2017 – R 975
‘The 2017 Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano is darkly concentrated and among the richest wines in this series of single-vineyard Riservas. Montestefano is angular, textured and bold with dark fruit aromas, dried blackberry, toasted almond and cured tobacco. With this vintage, you get an age-worthy wine that offers brawn and power for drinking in the medium term, but it will become increasingly silky and slender with time. Dusty tannins and crushed stone appear on the long finish. 2025-2050’ – Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, 96/100
