‘Donkermaan is a dry-farmed bush vine vineyard, planted in 1976 on sandy granite soils. Grapes for the 2021 vintage were pressed, and after the juice settled it was moved into old oak barrels for fermentation and an extended period of time on fine lees, followed by maturation for 11 months. Greg Sherwood MW: Delicious aromatics of lemon and lime peel, tangerine. Plush palate, full and expansive. Real precision, focus and a luxurious mouthfeel. Restrained and very grown-up. Beverley Blanning MW: Delicate nose of linden blossom and hints of green tea, rounded palate with some creaminess and textural complexity. Some herbal flavours and a juicy finale. Roger Jones: Balanced stone fruit on the mid-palate with a creamy and restrained feel. Lingers well, offering hints of fresh green herbs and wild flowers.
