Last weekend the Wine Cellar team took a break from our day-to-day activities to visit the new home of Saurwein. Treated to an outstanding line-up, we're excited to share two of our many highlights from the trip with you. With the Hogan launch being the talk of the past week, we're pleased to offer you their two delicious, 95-point releases – an irresistible Chenin and a red blend. We also have new Tokara vintages in stock, including their Elgin Sauvignon Blanc which sold out in a flash last year. Hogan, Chenin Blanc 2020

The recent Hogan launch delivered two outstanding, 95-point wines. The Chenin Blanc 2020, from low-yielding Swartland bushvines, is 'lean and focused,' states Christian Eedes, with a zippy acidity that's hard to resist. The Platter's 5-star Divergent 2019 (a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Carignan) is delicious and 'promises beneficial ageing,' writes Platter's Guide.

Saurwein, Om Pinot Noir 2019

Last weekend, the Wine Cellar team visited the new home of Saurwein Wines in Stanford. In a tasting of wines from the region, the Om Pinot Noir 2019 was a knockout. Its finesse, depth and richness was a great partner to the Comtes Lafon Volnay 1er Cru Santenots du Milieu 2017. This Burgundian giant is phenomenally poised and the complex, dark fruit is finely knit together with elegant, earthy spice. Though drinking beautifully now, it offers decades of ageing potential.
