Dear *|FNAME|*,
We're excited to announce that our May PIP is now available! As always, the PIP is a diversified blue-chip portfolio of 12 of the finest and most investable South African wines available on the market. Simply put, there's no better way to build a South African fine wine collection.
This week's roundup also features a bargain Piedmont red that's brimming with character, as well as a charming introduction to Beaujolais from Domaine Des Nugues. Local favourites are the Lelie van Saron Jade Red 2020, offering fantastic value at just R175, and the Shannon Oscar Browne Chardonnay 2020, which impressed at our recent blind tasting of SA's finest Chardonnays.

PIP May 2022 – A star-studded line-up
R 50,000 per unit
Our May PIP is an incredible collection of some of South Africa's finest wines, with Boekenhoutskloof, Damascene, Glenelly, Kanonkop, Mullineux and Porseleinberg all included. This is your last chance to have a portfolio that features Boekenhoutskloof Syrah 2018, Kanonkop Paul Sauer 2018 and Porseleinberg Syrah 2019 – all in one unit. Continued international demand has allowed producers to be bullish with their annual increases and, consequently, older vintages are priced accordingly. The unit's pricing, along with two years of free cellaring, represent a 7.6% saving per portfolio. Due to low volumes, units are limited. Email Johan to express your interest.

Marengo, Dolcetto d'Alba 2020
R 250 per bottle
Affectionately known as the 'little sweet one', though it's bone dry, Marengo's Dolcetto d'Alba is a charming fruit-filled red from Piedmont, Italy. At only R250, it completely over delivers on price! It's packed with vibrant dark cherry and rustic floral perfume, and isn't shy of concentration. The wine's energetic acidity and fine tannins make it the perfect match for your favourite tapas.

Nugues, Beaujolais Villages 2019
R 255 per bottle
Beaujolais is on the rise, as its alluring cherry, strawberry and floral aromatics continue to entice. According to James Suckling, '2019 is probably the most consistently exciting vintage for Beaujolais since 1976,' so there's never been a better time to explore the kingdom of Gamay. A great introduction to the region is the 2019 Domaine des Nugues Beaujolais Villages. It's accessible, aromatic and full of energy – a real pleasure to drink.

Lelie van Saron, Jade Red 2020
R 175 per bottle
Named after her late cousin, Jade, Natasha Williams' new 'lifestyle range' is focused, elegant and nothing short of exciting! Produced from vines in the Hemel-en Aarde Valley, it's layered and complex, with pure red and black fruits and a savoury finish. This Syrah and Petite Syrah blend is made in small volumes and, at R175, it's a no brainer. It also helps that a percentage of the profits go back to the Natasha's community in Saron to upskill the youth.

Shannon, Oscar Browne Chardonnay 2020
R 345 per bottle
We recently showcased some of SA's finest Chardonnays in a blind tasting. We pitted Hemel-en-Aarde, Elgin and Stellenbosch against international benchmarks, and it wasn't that easy to pick them out! A standout was the Shannon Oscar Browne Chardonnay 2020 from Elgin. Grown by James Downes and vinified by Gordon and Nadia from Newton Johnson, this wine has just the right amount of Puligny-like reduction, with subtle oak leading on to a taut, mineral and citrus-edged palate.
