Though mostly known as Blanc de Blancs specialists, they have a little plot of Pinot Noir that's blended with Chardonnay for their exquisite Grand Cru Rosé, called Redblend 9208. Artuke Trascuevas Blanco 2021

Whilst Artuke has been lauded by Tim Atkin as making ‘some of the greatest reds in Spain’, they recently introduced an impressive white, called Trascuevas. This is a blend of 85% Viura, 10% Malvasia and 5% Palomino from three different vineyards in Ábalos, Baños de Ebro, and Samaniego. Pure white pear and a hint of jasmine are backed by a mineral, saline drive and lip-smacking texture. The Trascuevas held its own next to Palladius at our recent Mediterranean white wine tasting!

Neighbour to Canon, the property sits on some of the finest terroir in Saint-Émilion and has been under the management of the Canon team since Chanel purchased the estate. This absolutely delicious wine is among the best to come out of the 2017 vintage. It has the potential to age well, with fine tannins and a sensual mouthfeel that makes you sit up and take notice. It boasts 94 points from the Wine Advocate and barely breaches the R1 000 mark – serious value.
