Miles Mossop helped establish Tokara as one of the finest producers in SA and left a legacy of impressive, award-winning releases in his wake. After almost two decades at Tokara, his own range includes one of the best value reds to come from the stellar 2021 vintage.

Every now and again we come across a wine that impresses for its sheer value, and the Miles Mossop Introduction Red 2021 is just that. The cuvée is 76% Stellenbosch Cabernet, 30% Cinsault and a hint of Merlot. At under R200, it demands to be bought by the caseload.

The 2021 Introduction Red offers serious yet elegant drinking, with red-fruited freshness over a dry and medium-bodied structure. Thanks to the addition of 30% stalks, the 2021 is ‘pure with plenty of vigour’, says Christian Eedes. This is a smart wine, matured for 18 months in older oak and ready to enjoy, but it promises further complexity with 5-8 years in bottle.

Miles Mossop Wines Introduction Red 2021

‘76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cinsault (30% of the stalks added back) and 4% Merlot. Matured for 18 months. Red cherry, cassis, rose and earth on the nose while the palate is medium bodied with fresh acidity and fine tannins. Pure with plenty of vigour, a really tidy wine.
