Tasting notes
Chapoutier Saint-Joseph Les Granits Rouge 2021
'Coming from the lieu-dit Saint-Joseph in Tournon, the 2021 Saint-Joseph Les Granits combines scents of ripe cherries and crushed stone on the nose. Medium to full-bodied, it's plump, ripe, succulent, silky and long, with less of an acid tang on the finish than Chapoutier's other 2021 Saint-Joseph bottlings.' – Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, 91-93/100
Chapoutier Ermitage Le Méal Blanc 2021
'Fresh pear and a touch of honey add to what is already a full-bodied, powerful expression on the palate, really intense and driving with plenty of extract. There’s a great sense of freshness and power, but no great fatness on the palate – it’s relatively lean in fact, and should live for a long time. Pure Marsanne over 50 years old, whole-bunch pressed and half fermented in demi-muids, half in vats. The vineyards are on pebbles, clay and some loess, facing south.' – Matt Walls, Decanter, 97/100
Chapoutier Châteauneuf-du-Pape Barbe Rac 2021
'The 2021 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Barbe-Rac is made from 90-year-old vines of a single vineyard. This 2021 displays precise aromas of violets, cooked strawberry, raspberry jam, cranberry, dried herbs, licorice and crushed rocks. It is a refined red from Chapoutier, with velvety tannins and lively acidity. Full-bodied, rich and expressive, it will age gracefully for at least 20 years.' – Nicholas Greinacher, Vinous, 93-95/100
