Dear *|FNAME|*,
This is a knockout Rhône lookalike! The Intellego Syrah 2020 offers exceptional value, adding layers of fruit density and depth compared to previous releases. Coaxing the best from Swartland Syrah is a challenge and, while few manage to offer freshness whilst retaining complexity, the 2020 Intellego Syrah from terroir purist Jurgen Gouws achieves just that. It has all the wonderful aromas of olive tapenade, cured meat, blood orange and wild herbs, with a dark-fruited, mineral backbone and a long, dry finish.
A quick glance at the ratings of premier SA wine critic Christian Eedes points to the immense success Syrah is having in SA. Intellego’s 96-point rating shows just what extraordinary value this wine is, particularly alongside other leading Syrahs.

With winemaking experiences at Matassa, Lammershoek, Stephane Ogier, Sadie Family Wines, and Roc d'Anglade, Jurgen Gouws has been strongly influenced by the natural wine movement. His wines are a ‘celebration of the hard work done in the vineyards’, and winemaking is done with no additions except for a minimum amount of necessary sulphur. These fresh, small-batch wines have immense personality and character – they are well worth seeking out. View all the latest releases here.

Tasting notes
Intellego Syrah 2020
'From a Paardeberg bushvine vineyard. 100% whole-bunch fermentation. Red and black berries, cured meat, olive brine, fynbos and white pepper on the nose. The palate shows excellent fruit density, bright acidity and powdery tannins before a finish that is long and dry to the point of saline. Well balanced with no shortage of structure despite an alcohol of just 12%. Possessing plenty of verve, an absolute pleasure to drink.' – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 96/100
