Trizanne's latest releases

from the Swartland to the Cape South Coast

Trizanne Barnard is one of SA’s most astute winemakers. Besides her technical prowess, she has continuously added nuance and character to her wines, and her latest releases continue to impress. Her Signature Wines offer the opportunity to experience exceptional regional expressions from the Swartland, Elim, Sondagskloof and Benede-Duiwenhoksrivier. Each wine shows great typicity of place, including the chalky, bone-dry and limited Benede-Duiwenhoksrivier Chardonnay 2021 – a special wine from this relatively new appellation on the Cape South Coast.

For value, look no further than the fresh, crunchy Sauvignon Blanc 2021 and Syrah 2021, which punches above its weight with serious structure.

A standout is the brilliant Bordeaux-styled white, the Reserve Sauvignon Blanc Sémillon 2020, which is elegant with shy fruit, blackcurrant, and delicate spice. The structured, fresh palate is sure to evolve for a decade or more.

The wine that ultimately captures her technical ability and terroir savvy must be the Reserve Syrah 2019. It has an excellent track record, with multiple awards, and has become the wine that showcases Trizanne’s mastery of the unique, saline, and windswept character of Elim.

Another highlight is the Sondagskloof White 2021. 100% Sauvignon Blanc, with 50% skin contact for complexity, it’s testament to a region that’s bound to make some of the finest wines in the future. There is effortless fruit concentration here, with a textured palate and a long, lingering finish. It’s an impressive follow-on from the maiden release, which was a Tim Atkin top 5 Sauvignon Blanc in SA.
