Presented at Wine Spectator's New York Wine Experience in 2016 to a standing ovation, the DeMorgenzon The Divas 2013 was named one of the 3 most exciting wines this millennium and the follow-up 2017 was crowned 'Chenin Blanc of the Year' in the 2019 Platter's Guide. As for the newly released 2020 vintage, Master of Wine Tim Atkin writes that it 'is well up to the quality of its predecessors' – scoring it 96 points!

The 2020 is a wine of immense power with a persistent and elegant finish. It entices with an array of floral and oak perfume. White stone fruit lead to a lively, visceral palate with wonderfully supportive oak and a sensual, textured finish. Balanced by a driving acidity, this is a wine of gravitas with a long life ahead.

As one of the greatest Chenin Blancs in Stellenbosch, we are excited to have been offered a small allocation of the 2020 vintage.

The Divas is sourced from two special blocks planted in 1972. It spends 7 months in 40% new Chassagne French Oak barrels and another 7 months in concrete egg. This mineral and powerful wine is the epitome of DeMorgenzon's special terroir and is one of the finest Chenin Blancs we tasted in 2021.

After placing in the top 10 of the Standard Bank Chenin Challenge 7 consecutive times, being awarded 'Best White' in the 2020 Winemag Report and receiving 6 Platter's 5 stars for their Chenins, it is undeniable that DeMorgenzon makes some of the finest Chenin Blancs in SA.

DeMorgenzon, The Divas Chenin Blanc 2020

'This is the fourth (third*) vintage of The Divas, after 2013, 2017 and 2019*, and is well up to the quality of its predecessors. Sourced from a single, one-hectare block, it's a rich, lees aged style with 40% new oak, 70% malolactic and a powerful yet taut palate. White flowers, beeswax, pear, nectarine and vanilla flavours combine beautifully on the palate. Drink 2022-30.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2021, 96/100

'Fermented and matured in 300-litre barrels of which 40% were new for around seven months before a further seven months in concrete egg, it's a striking wine. Smoky reduction before citrus, peach, dried herbs, spice and some leesy character on the nose while the palate is mouth-filling but not unctuous – great fruit definition and vibrant acidity before a dry finish.
