'From predominantly ungrafted vines that are up to 70+ years old and on gray slate, the Pündericher 2018 Marienburg Riesling Raffes did not ferment to fully dry but still reached 13.5% alcohol. Pure, fine and ripe on the flinty and elegant nose, this is a full-bodied, rich and powerful yet finessed, quiet, pure and perfectly interwoven Raffes with a certain sweetness that will become better integrated during the years of bottle aging. | Producer information | Clemens is the 5th-generation winemaker at his family estate and began using organic practices in 1984. Later a pioneer in biodynamics, Clemens Busch is now a role model for natural, but precise German winemaking. Unlike most of the Mosel region, however, Clemens focuses on dry, elegant Rieslings that express the complex terroir of this historic region. Their unique soils in the town of Pündericherallow them to produce many iterations of the Riesling grape. Clemens Busch is based on the 3 types of slate – red, blue and grey – each imparting different characteristics and styling. |
