‘Definitely riper than the 2021 release - a tale of contrasting vintages - but Cape Point is still one of the cooler and windier sites in South Africa, so its wines are never ponderous. ‘The 2022 Sauvignon Blanc Cape Point Vineyards Noordhoek comes from selected parcels on the estate, predominantly from younger vines on the lower reaches. This is whole bunch pressed with 14% barrel aged and the rest in stainless steel with six months on the lees. This is quite punchy and vibrant on the nose with kiwi fruit, orange rind and light nettle aromas, the wood component here judiciously used. The palate is medium-bodied with nice acidity, lightly spiced with decent depth, gooseberry, nettle and green apples towards the finish. This is a fine Sauvignon Blanc that should give three to five years drinking pleasure. 2022-2029’ – Neal Martin, Vinous, 91/100
