'One of those wines that stops you in your tracks, this is a beautifully weighted Chardonnay from Bokkeveld shale soil. Fermented in 25% new wood with no malolactic, it's a seamless cocktail of the CY 76, 95 and 96 clones with lots of texture, notes of cashew nut and lemon butter and supporting, refreshing acidity and minerality. | Producer information | Thamnus Wines is a new label located between Caledon and Hermanus, just outside the Hemel-en-Aarde valley with a focus on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. PJ Geyer heads up the winemaking, previously making great wines for Alan Moueix's venture in Stellenbosch called Ingwe. These are the maiden releases with a focus on sustainable farming and showcasing the Terroir of this unique region. |
