‘Marc De Grazia says he has confidence in the Carricante grape, although he concedes that there is room for improvement. Historically, he has specialized in red wines and has had less opportunity to work with white varieties. However, the appreciation for Etna Bianco wines has increased, and Tenuta delle Terre Nere is stepping up to accommodate demand. His 2021 Etna Bianco Santo Spirito is brilliant and tonic with sharp contours and crisp lines. This single-vineyard expression shows floral notes of white rose and acacia. In 2022, the estate harvested its first fruit from a newly acquired Carricante vineyard in Milo (they have 1.5 hectares in the Contrada Salice). It's elegant and silky on the palate, seamless is the word, with ripe orchard fruits and lemon complicated by savory herbal tones.
