The small, family-owned domaine is situated in the Vaucluse region between Châteauneuf-du-Pape and the small town of Orange in the Southern Rhône, about 20km north of Avignon.
With the drought in 2022, vignerons in the Rhône were tested. Thankfully, Perrin’s old Grenache vines, with their deep and extensive root systems, handled the tough conditions well and produced wines of very good quality.
Roger Perrin took over the running of the property from his father-in-law in 1969 and established his eponymous domaine in 1980. The baton was then passed to his son Luc, and today the domaine is run by Roger’s daughter and grandson, Véronique and Xavier. They work the vineyards in a sustainable and organic manner, looking after 40 ha across 70 different plots around their home. The average vine age is 60 years old, with some as old as 100 years.
