‘Like their Vinum Pinotage, this smells and tastes of red cherries. Bright, bodacious fruit. But also a little more serious and deeper toned overall; a little more balsamic and with sautéed-mushroom richness without losing freshness. The tannins press in strong and gentle, like muscular arms holding a protective hug, a broad chest smelling of oak leaves and with the sweetness of strawberry. This really is a whole new way of understanding Pinotage, and it shows the Pinot genes of the Pinotage. This is long, elegant, refined and even a little haunting … folksong, minor key.
