It gently unfurls with aeration, though never slips into fifth gear. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, just a touch of dark chocolate infusing the black fruit and a cohesive, slightly peppery finish. | Producer information | The history of Château Phélan Ségur began with Irish owner Bernard Phélan. He acquired Clos de Garramey and Ségur de Cabanac and combined them to create Château Ségur de Garramey, as it was known then. Upon his death, the property was passed on to his son, Frank, who renamed the estate to Château Phélan Ségur. After passing through 2 more families, the estate was sold in 2017, for a record amount, to Philippe Van de Vyvere – owner of Sea-Invest, one of the world’s largest shipping companies. |
