The intensity and precision of this 2021 are notable and follow to an elegant, medium-bodied palate that coats the mouth with sumptuous, saline cassis fruit layers, sweet smoky black currant and subtle hints of kelp and oyster shell minerality. This is another delightfully vibrant expression that will seduce many Syrah obsessives, with its 20% whole bunch portion adding an extra little complexing sapidity on the long finish. 'Home might be Elgin but the upfront kick of white pepper and cardamom takes us straight to an Indian Spice Bazaar. Its complex combinations ebbing and flowing, with pretty florals morphing into cherry, leather and bacon fat. On entry, it is all about coated red fruit, followed by a savoury mid-palate that finishes strong with distinct white pepper. Producer information At just 21 years old, Sam Lambson's passion for wine has led him to create Minimalist Wines. A label that allows him to bottle the vineyards that speak to him, in a minimal-intervention approach. He is studying a BSc Oenology degree at the University of Stellenbosch and has already worked with some big names in the industry including working harvests under Lukas van Loggerenberg, Chris Alheit and Carl van de Merwe of De Morgenzon. He is captivated by flavours and fragrances and enjoys experimenting with different varietals and techniques.
