Niepoort, Conciso Branco 2018 and Tinto 2016

The Niepoort Conciso duo (translated to 'concise') from the Dão region get 'straight to the point'. They are both delicious and expressive of their terroir. The Branco is a more-ish, old-vine field blend with delicate, pure fruit, racy acidity and serious tension – it's a beautifully made wine. The Tinto is also a field blend (predominately Baga) and offers both elegance and grunt with notes of macerated cherries, violets, and expressive, wild garrigue spice. A 'must-try' pair!

This is the 3rd iteration of Mourvèdre from Joostenberg, and it's a firm favourite at Wine Cellar. The 2017 celebrates the perfume of Mourvèdre – fragrant florals and a hint of typical wildness that manifests in meaty, garrigue aromas. A limited release from the great 2017 vintage, it walks the line between ethereal charm and grippy power perfectly!

Notably one of the most respected Syrah masters in the Northern Rhône, Yves Cuilleron is recognised for his classic and bold-fruited wines.
