Lievland Liefkoos Rosé 2022 & Heart’s Ease Syrah 2019

The days are getting warmer but the nights are still cold, so it’s the perfect time for the latest exciting releases from Lievland – the Liefkoos Rosé 2022 and Heart’s Ease Syrah 2019. The 2021 Liefkoos won Overall Rosé of the Year in Tim Atkin’s latest SA report, and we think the 2022 is a step up. It’s dry, textured, and herbaceous with notes of blood orange, wild strawberry, and pomegranate. The Heart’s Ease Syrah 2019 is produced in small quantities from estate grapes on the Simonsberg mountains. Dense and pure, it’s a compelling new addition to their portfolio. Along with these and other imports, there’s a batch of wines from the Sadie Family and an excellent selection of Stellenbosch wines from Kanonkop, Taaibosch, Damascene and Mvemve Raats. Pricing on our list starts at R150, with more than 450 wines on offer. All wines are stored at Wine Cellar in temperature-controlled cellars. Try the Vinicole d'Arbois Cuvée Béthanie 2014 – an energetic blend of Chardonnay and Savagnin. It offers layers of lemon curd and citrus pith, complemented by hazelnut and walnut from its 36-month maturation under flor – a protective yeast film. It’s best paired with creamy Comté cheese, though sushi is a great alternative.
