Dear *|FNAME|*,
‘Port is for life, not just for Christmas,’ writes Neal Martin. Continuing the Douro’s sublime streak of Port vintages since 2015, 2018 is an ‘embarrassment of riches’, proclaims Decanter. ‘In 2018, overall conditions were excellent but in the Douro Superior they were exceptional’.
From this extraordinary vintage, we’re delighted to offer Niepoort’s 2018 Late Bottled Vintage Port. This is all about depth, structure and fruit intensity. Fresh, pure, and precise, it shows subtle power and fine-grained, delicate tannins.
‘Late Bottled’ Port is aged for 4-6 years before bottling, whereas ‘Vintage’ Port is bottled after only 2 years. Stylistically, LBV is a cross between Vintage and Ruby Port since Ruby Port should be drunk quite young and a great Vintage Port may need 20-30 years to open up. The beauty of LBV is that you can drink it now or hold it for a few decades. At only R190 for 375ml, we suggest buying it by the caseload.
