His cult Sons of Sugarland is as scarce as hens’ teeth, while the benchmark Boschkloof Epilogue is consistently one of SA’s most profound examples.

Reenen’s 2021 Boschkloof Syrah is fresh and perfumed and with spice, blood orange and juicy depth. Simply delicious, it ticks all the boxes and offers insane value for a wine of this stature and quality.

Produced from various sites, including the Epilogue vineyard, Reenen manages to coax a wine that walks the line between complexity and delicious drinkability. 15% whole-bunch fermentation adds freshness, and the 10% new oak is wonderfully judged. This is a bargain!

‘From various vineyards planted to clones SH21 and SH99. Approximately 15% whole-bunch fermentation. Matured for 14 months in barrel, 10% new. Alluring aromatics of red and black berries, orange, violets, herbs and white pepper while the palate is pure and fresh with crunchy tannins. A seductive wine with great fruit expression.
