Alheit Cartology 2022 – Their signature release

Dear *|FNAME|*,

Alheit Vineyards’ focus is embedded in the belief that ‘beauty and quality’ come from the vineyard alone. Cartology – a blend of old-vine Chenin and Sémillon – exemplifies this ethos, showcasing the greatness of South Africa’s unique terroir. Their 2022 release is up there with the best to date! Youthful, persistent, and vibrant, the palate is visceral and arrowlike with a taut structure and lots of detail. This is a wine that tells a story.

Alheit Cartology 2022 – Their signature release

Alheit Cartology 2022 serves as a map of our finest old vineyards. It celebrates our ancient soils and beautiful wine landscapes, continuing to define the South African white blend category.

Also impressive is their ‘Baby Cartology’, the Hereafter Here 2022, which offers phenomenal value given its pedigree. This is produced from various younger Chenin Blanc vineyards from Polkadraai and the Blaauwklippen Valley in Stellenbosch, along with some old-vine fruit from the Paardeberg. The wine has texture, good fruit density, and lively acidity.

Tasting notes

Alheit Vineyards Cartology 2022

‘92% Chenin Blanc and 8% Semillon sourced from across the Western Cape. Inviting aromatics of pear, peach, citrus, white flowers, thatch and fynbos while the palate shows great purity of fruit, driving acidity and a pithy finish. Poised and linear, the finish wonderfully long.’Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 96/100

Alheit Vineyards Hereafter Here 2022

‘Mostly a young vineyard Chenin Blanc, grapes from Swartland, Upper Blaauwklippen and Polkadraai Hills plus some older vine parcels from the Paardeberg. Some flinty reduction before pear, peach and citrus as well as some floral perfume on the nose. Good fruit density, well coated acidity and some light grip to the finish. Relatively thick textured (alc: 13.34%) with layers of flavour.’Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 93/100
