Dear *|FNAME|*,
The re-emergence of finely crafted, terroir-driven 100% Sangiovese from the Tuscan wine capital, Chianti, has refocused the spotlight on the region. Querciabella is considered to be one of Tuscany's top wineries and at the helm is a South African winemaker – Manfred Ing. '[Manfred] continues to make waves in Chianti'shire, pushing the level of quality upwards across the entire range,' writes Greg Sherwood.
'The 2018 Chianti Classico is all class,' enthuses Antonio Galloni from Vinous. 'If I were going to start out to explore [Querciabella],' he continues, 'it would be with the Chianti Classico, a model of understatement and elegance.' It is vibrant and elegant, ages well and is a no-brainer if you love freshness and purity in wine. A step-up from the Classico, is Querciabella's Chianti Classico Riserva 2017. It is a blend from their finest Sangiovese parcels and is simply 'fabulous' says Vinous. '[This is a] super-classic, mid-weight style,' writes Antonio Galloni, 'a signature of the Querciabella house style today with incredible ageing potential.'

Owned by the Castiglioni family since 1974, Querciabella are pioneers of the organic and biodynamic movement in Italy; being one of the first producers to farm sustainably in a time where commercial production plagued Chianti Classico. Today, their winemaking practices are fully plant-based and vegan certified. Their 100 hectares of vines are located in the most prestigious, high-altitude DOCG appellations of Greve, Radda and Gaiole, forming the foundation of their award-winning wines.

Tasting notes
Querciabella, Chianti Classico 2018
'The 2018 Chianti Classico is classy, polished and exceptionally beautiful. Like so many wines in 2018, the Chianti Classico is aromatic and gracious in feel, more finesse than power. Silky tannins wrap around a core of bright Sangiovese fruit. From start to finish, the 2018 is all class. 2022 – 2033.' – Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 93/100
Querciabella, Chianti Classico Riserva 2017
'Querciabella's 2017 Chianti Classico Riserva is fabulous. Sweet perfumed aromatics open up first as this silky, mid-weight Riserva shows off its allure. The warm, dry vintage notwithstanding, Querciabella turned out a gracious, mid-weight Riserva that is incredibly elegant. The 2017 changes constantly in the glass, revealing different sides of its personality over time. It's the perfect wine for the dinner table. 2022 – 2037.' – Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 94/100
