‘A depth of colour, and a delicious classic Chambolle nose for this favourite cuvée which delivers once again. Such a succulence of fruit, with all the elegance of Chambolle. Quite good length here too, to enjoy. 2026-2034.’ – Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy, 93/100

‘Generous red fruit aromas with notes of bitter chocolate and pepper. A ripe and structured wine for this appellation, but the moderately dry tannins are already well integrated. Long elegant finish.’ – James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, 93/100

‘This voluptuous wine showcases a deep ruby hue and a ripe, dark mulberry fruit with notes of earth and smoke. The texture has more density and less acidity than the village-level wines, and the ripe fruit and firm tannins carry the wine to a lingering finish. It is a blend of Drouhin family-owned vines in Combottes, and Les Plants blended with Les Borniques, Les Fuées, Les Haut Doix, and Feusselottes. The grapes are destemmed and fermented on native yeasts before ageing over two winters in cask (20% new). 2025-2045’ – Charles Curtis MW, Decanter, 92/100

‘A more elegant and airier nose reflects a suggestion of exotic spice nuances, and in particular a wisp of jasmine tea, on the ripe yet cool aromas of mostly red berries. The precise and markedly stony medium weight flavors possess a highly refined texture thanks to the fine-grained, but dense, tannins shaping the dusty and youthfully austere finish. This will also need a few years of forbearance as it's presently quite compact. 2031+’ – Allen Meadows, Burghound, 90-93/100

‘The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru has a nicely detailed bouquet, more black fruit than red, pressed iris flower and just a faint oyster shell note. The palate is finely crafted with pliant tannins, good tension though, just missing a little concentration on the finish. A capable Chambolle-Musigny that may well meliorate with a couple of years on the clock. 2025-2038’ – Neal Martin, Vinous, 90-92

Producer information In 1880, a 22-year-old Joseph Drouhin settled in Beaune and founded his own wine company. His son Maurice succeeded him and established a domaine for the Drouhin house by buying land in outstanding appellations including the famous Clos des Mouches and Clos de Vougeot. Today, 4th generation Véronique Drouhin continues the family's prestigious Burgundy legacy. With 73 hectares of biodynamically-farmed vines, Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy's largest estates. With vineyards in close to 90 different appellations, Drouhin offers a fascinating array of Burgundy terroirs.
