'Drouhin's 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is showing very well, unwinding in the glass with aromas of cassis, plums, dark chocolate, incense and petals. Full-bodied, rich and enveloping, it's broad and dramatic, with a concentrated core of fruit, succulent acids, and velvety tannins that render it unusually approachable at this early stage. Drink 2025-2055.' – William Kelley, Wine Advoctae, 94/100

‘The 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru comes from vines close to the small tower within the vineyard. Limpid in color, it has a crisp, well-defined bouquet, showing more precision than the Clos-de-Bèze tasted alongside. The palate is medium-bodied with a silky texture, quite rich but nicely focused, with probably more oak on the finish that will need to be subsumed. The 30% whole bunch lends a little freshness that is crucial for this blend. Good potential. 2023 – 2040.’ – Neal Martin, Vinous, 92- 94/100

‘Here the wood treatment is more apparent though still sufficiently subtle as to allow the earthy aromas of poached plum and cassis to be appreciated. The velvet-textured yet overtly powerful and muscular big-bodied flavors flash good muscle on the palate drenching, firm and very serious finish where the only nit is a trace of warmth. Patience absolutely advised. 2036+.’ – Allan Meadows, Burghound, 93/100

Producer information In 1880, a 22-year-old Joseph Drouhin settled in Beaune and founded his own wine company. His son Maurice succeeded him and established a domaine for the Drouhin house by buying land in outstanding appellations including the famous Clos des Mouches and Clos de Vougeot. Today, 4th generation Véronique Drouhin continues the family's prestigious Burgundy legacy. With 73 hectares of biodynamically-farmed vines, Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy's largest estates. With vineyards in close to 90 different appellations, Drouhin offers a fascinating array of Burgundy terroirs.
