‘The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles 1er Crus is an absolute delight. Bright and effusive, with tons of aromatic presence, the Pucelles is immediately charming. There is fine volume to the delicious and almost creamy larger-scaled flavors that brim with a sappy dry extract on the lemon-tinged and youthfully austere finale that displays unusually good power in the context of what is typical for Pucelles. | Producer information | Based in Meursault, between the villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Volnay, Henri Boillot is at the epicentre of great winemaking. The Boillots have been tending vines and making wines since 1885. Henri joined in 1975, bought out his siblings in 2005 and his son, Guillaume, joined in 2008. It totals 19 hectares, with roughly equal surfaces of red and white. Included herein, is 4 hectares of the famous Monopole vineyard of Clos de la Mouchère which has developed a cult following. In a very short space of time, they’ve built an extraordinary reputation for the sheer quality of their Burgundy wines, it is no surprise that Allen Meadows thinks this superstar producer ‘has arguably become the finest pure négoce specializing in white Burgundy today’.
