‘The 2022 Whole Bunch is 100% whole bunches (quelle surprise) aged in stainless steel for nine months. It has a crisp nose with blackcurrant, raspberry fruit, and a touch of pressed violet. The medium-bodied palate has brittle tannins and a lovely chalky texture with a hint of licorice emerging towards the finish. The whole bunch works well here - no steaminess. The palate is not without tannin or acidity but is led by pure fruit and a touch of aromatic spice. Producer information | Gabriëlskloof was established in 2001 when Bernhard Heyn discovered the Avontuur farm, located on the outskirts of Botrivier. He purchased the land and created Gabriëlskloof as we know it today. On the farm, they are passionate about incorporating environmentally friendly practices, where possible, and Gabriëlskloof is a WWF Conservation Champion farm. Cellar Master, Peter-Allan Finlayson, has been at Gabriëlskloof since 2014 and has reshaped the Gabriëlskloof aesthetic. Their wines aim to reflect the complexity, richness and diversity of Gabriëlskloof's unique terroir. |
