| Producer information | Francis Wines was established in 2023 by Burton Francis, a former professional rugby union player, he played locally from 2008 to 2013, then moved to France to continue his rugby career until his injury in 2017. During this time is when he fell in love with the Burgundian winemaking style and the methods, he completed his MBA in Wine & Spirits Business at the Burgundy School of Business and has now produced wine under his own label Francis Wines. Soil analogy is key to Burton’s vision, therefore creating a Burgundy-style wine in his home country, Hemel-and-Aarde was the perfect place for him to start his journey. His maiden release are his Chardonnay, which wine critic Christian Eedes best describes as ‘pure and powerful’ and his Pinot Noir which Christian boasts is ‘forceful and direct’. |
