'Dark ruby, purple reflections, subtle watery rim. Nuances of oak, dark forest fruit, a hint of cassis and liquorice, fine tobacco nuances, spices, orange zest, still a little reserved. Complex, cherries, well-integrated tannins, mineral and lasting, elegant style with a fine fruity finish, salty on the aftertaste, delicate liquorice in the finish, immensely harmonious, absolute ageing potential, however, patience is required. Leave to mature.' - Peter Moser, Falstaff, 100/100

'The wine is seriously rich with solid tannins. The tannins are softening into a more velvet texture that suits this style of wine well. It is giving a smoky character to the wine as well as richness. This is a great wine, very aromatic and concentrated. Drink from 2027.' - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 99/100

'The 2019 Figeac has turned out brilliantly. Wafting from the glass with aromas of blackberries, cassis, warm spices, violets and pencil shavings, framed by a deft touch of nicely integrated new oak, it's full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with terrific depth at the core, powdery structuring tannins and lively acids, concluding with a long, precise finish. Rich but vibrant, this 2019 reflects the new precision that Frédéric Faye has brought to Figeac; but while it's richer and more polished than the wines of yesteryear, the estate's identity hasn't been lost.' - William Kelley, Wine Advocate, 97/100

'Large-scaled, capturing all the rich and flamboyant cassis, steeped plum and blackberry reduction notes that are hallmarks of the vintage, along with a broad swath of loam and warm gravel underneath as tobacco and alder accents fill in wherever possible. Muscular and toothy along the edges but rock-solid in build, with enough fruit to round into form eventually. Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2024 through 2040. 9,062 cases made.' - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 95/100

Producer information The estate of Château Figeac dates back to the 2nd century AD to a family by the name of Figeacus. Some fixtures of the estate (such as its doors and windows) which still remain today, can be dated back to the year 1,000. Over the years, Figeac has had a number of different owners who have bought and sold different parcels and plots. This is the reason why many surrounding châteaux have Figeac in their name. The estate covers 54 hectares in total and is planted with the unique combination of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon - uncommon in the Bordeaux area.
