‘This is aromatically similar to the Petit Chablis but with more floral influence as well as a whiff of quinine. The plump and punchy medium-bodied flavors exude a subtle minerality that adds a sense of lift to the sneaky long, nicely dry and balanced finale that is just a bit more complex. | Producer information | Resulting from a family of winegrowers dating back 150 years, Daniel Dampt has joined his domaine with his father-in-law, Jean Defaix. The estate currently has 30 hectares of vines in production, including 16 hectares of Chablis and 14 hectares of Chablis Ier Cru of which in particular are Vaillons, Fourchaume, Cote de Lechet, Les Lys and Beauroy. Daniel's, and now Vincent's philosophy is to evidence the superb characteristics that Chardonnay can display when grown on the famous Kimmeridgien clay. For this reason there are no barrels at the Domaine. All the wines are aged in stainless steel tanks prior to bottling to retain Chablis characteristic freshness. Recently Vincent Dampt increased the quality and production of his wines with a modernized twenty-first century cellar. |
