'Cape benchmark chenin, naturally barrel-fermented, 11 months in mostly old oak. 2019 built to last, with higher sugar than usual (8.3 g/l) yet gracefully poised as ever, with fresh acidity & dense, creamy, yeasty mouthfeel balanced around core of ripe stonefruit.' – Platter's Guide, 5* (95/100)

'If the definition of a great vineyard is that it consistently produces superb wine then Hope Marguerite definitely qualifies. Made with fruit from 40-year-old vines and older, it's a classy, poised, naturally fermented delight, with green apple and pear tart flavours, racy acidity, some brioche and patisserie and a long, crunchy finish. 2021-29' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2020, 95/100

'The nose shows pear, peach, citrus and apple with some dried herbs and a little yeasty complexity in the background. The palate possesses a good core of fruit plus bright acidity while the finish is long and pithy. Currently, it comes across as rather tightly wound and it will be interesting to see how that extra RS manifests itself in years to come.' – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 93/100

Producer information Beaumont, located in Botriver, is a family-run farm. It was founded by Raoul and Jayne Beaumont in 1974, and is now run by their son Sebastian Beaumont. The farm dates back to the 1700's when it was owned by the Dutch East India Company and is now home to the region's oldest wine cellar. The vineyards sit on ancient clay-rich soil and are said to be some of the finest in the area.
