The 2019 Chenin Blanc is a 50/50 blend of two different vineyards. The first vineyard is a 39 year-old dryland bushvine that grow in granite. The second vineyard grows in iron soils and is a 36 years-old bush vine, also dryland. Grapes were picked separately and whole bunch pressed. Juice settled overnight with zero enzymes. After 24 hours the juice was transferred to old 300 L barrels. Natural fermentation occured and the wine mature for 10 months on the lees before bottling. Production 2200 bottles.

Notes on the 2019 vintage are not available.

Tasting notes on the 2018 vintage:
'The best news about this brilliant first release from Jolandie Fouché is that she is going to make it with the same fruit every year. Combining old vine fruit from the Paardeberg and Malmesbury, this is oatmealy, complex and layered, with citrus, wet stone, thatch and lanolin notes, some granitic grip and remarkable palate length. Bravo! Drink 2019-25.' – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2019, 96/100

'Grapes equally from a 1980 Paardeberg vineyard planted on granite and a 1983 vineyard outside Malmesburg planted on iron. A forthcoming and compelling nose of naartjie, peach and dried herbs. The palate has lovely fruit expression and weight with nicely integrated, tangy acidity, the finish savoury to the point of bitter. The two different batches of fruit seem to complement each other very well, the end result having an effortlessness about it while also being true to the Swartland.' – Christian Eedes, WineMag.co.za, 94/100

About Wolf & Woman:
Jolandie Fouché, winemaker at Kloovenburg in the Swartland, started her own label called Woman & Wolf. The inspiration for the name came from her husband who sent her a quote saying, ‘some days I am more wolf than woman, and I am still learning how to stop apologising for my wild.’
