Cape Point Vineyards Noordhoek Sauvignon Blanc 2022 – R 180
‘Definitely riper than the 2021 release - a tale of contrasting vintages - but Cape Point is still one of the cooler and windier sites in South Africa, so its wines are never ponderous. Extra complexity is provided by 14% barrel fermented Semillon, adding a note of vanilla sweetness to the creamy, racy, grapefruity palate. 2022-26’ – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2022, 92/100
Puygueraud Francs Cotes de Bordeaux Blanc 2016 – R 395
‘The 2016 Puygueraud Blanc is bright, crisp and intensely saline, with that classic touch of reduction that adds character and tension to the citrus, orchard fruit, sage and floral notes. This is very nicely done. The blend is 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Sauvignon Gris. In 2016, the Blanc is absolutely delicious. Tasted three times. 2018-2024’ – Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 91/100
Lalela Cinsaut 2023 – R 215
‘Wade Sander and Natasha Williams source this appealingly drinkable, easy-going Cinsault from a young-vine parcel in Wellington. Fermented with 15% whole clusters before ageing in older wood, it has racy redcurrant and goji berry fruit and a savoury undertone. 2024-27’ – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2024, 90/100
McFarlane Wines Capitoline Wolf Red 2023 – R 165
‘92% Cinsault, 8% Grenache, the former undergoing whole-bunch fermentation. Matured for nine months in neutral 300- and 500-litre barrels. Pretty aromatics of cranberry, strawberry and rose while the palate is charming – light and fresh with no tannins to speak of, but still savoury. Alc: 12%.’ – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 90/100
Áster, Crianza 2016 – R 285
‘There was no single parcel Finca Martelo made in 2020, so all of the grapes from Torre de Oña's 48-hectare estate in Páganos, were used to make this varietal Tempranillo. Carrying its 14.5% alcohol lightly, it has subtle American and 40% French oak, flavours of summer berries and orange zest and appealing freshness for a hot vintage wine. 2024-28’ –Tim Atkin MW, Rioja Special Report 2024, 91/100
Emilio Lustau Oloroso Don Nuño NV – R 250
'Toffee and baked brown sugar aromas provide a nice opening in this wine. It's fresh and fearless, with popping acidity and layered flavors. Salty dried apricot and orange notes end with dashes of brine and pecan.' – Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast, 92/100
