Sijnn, Cape Vintage 2019 – R 350
'Vintage port-style from a terroir seemingly made for it. From touriga, with highish alcohol (21%) & lowish sugar (66 g/L); 2 years in new oak & now for many more in bottle. 2019 dislocated in youth, its serious components will knit into a powerhouse. Mere 600 bottles.' – Platter's Guide, 5* (96/100)
Pairings: A good match with a salty blue cheese, Roquefort, Stilton or local Simonzola

Cape Collective, Epic White 2020 – R 120
'From chenin, part wholebunch, spontaneously fermented/8 months on lees in older oak. 2020 greater sense of ripeness & less vivacity than 2018 (4.5 stars, 93 pts), finish a tad briefer, too. No 2019. WO W Cape.' – Platter's Guide, 4*
Pairings: Excellent with cauliflower risotto

La Brune, The Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2021 – R 120
'Very fresh with ripe figs with gooseberry and grassy notes. Mineral core to the wine which are coated with texture which creates a wonderful mouthfeel. Figs, gooseberry and some asparagus ending with a dry clean finish. 4 months on the lees to create texture and mouthfeel on the mid-palate.' – Nico Grobler, Winemaker
Pairings: Delicious with a lime-dressed calamari salad

Steenberg, Brut 1682 Pinot Noir NV – R 190
'Pretty & perfumed NV dry rosé sparkler, shade more serious than previous, with lees time now 14 months, marrying salty almond notes with ripe red apple & strawberry. WO W Cape for these.' – Platter's Guide, 4*
Pairings: Look no further than a plate of Italian Mortadella or cold slices of Gammon

Radford Dale, Thirst Gamay 2021 – R 170
'Nouveau-style, 2021 delivering all the fresh, juicy fruit (think plump plums, wild strawberries) it requires. Mouthwatering & designed to create a thirst! 11.7% alcohol.' – Platter's Guide, 3.5*
Pairings: A picnic with a mezze spread of hummus, olives, charcuterie and assorted terrines

Caravel Wines, The Liquid Sword NV – R 150
'The Liquid Sword NV is 100% Mourvèdre (60% from 2020 and 40% from 2019) and has incredibly focused texture and acidity. An elegant representation of the grape with bright red fruit followed by notes of game, nutmeg, and an iron minerality that keeps you enthralled. A delicious, everyday-drinking wine.' – Wine Cellar
Pairings: Perfect with chicken wings on the braai
