Klein Constantia, Sauvignon Blanc 2021 – R 165
'The construction of Klein Constantia Sauvignon Blanc is nothing if not meticulous, the 2021 vintage assembled from over 40 different blocks, winemaking involving 25% skin contact for 12 hours and 80% spontaneous fermentation. The result is a sophisticated, polished rendition of the variety. Subtle aromatics of blossom, white peach, grapefruit and dried herbs with the vaguest flinty note in the background precede a palate that shows good weight and fruit expression, nicely creamy in texture with well-integrated acidity.' – Christian Eedes,, 92/100

‘I love the expressive, smoky nose that’s brimming with Amalfi lemon, plus touches of caper and parsley. Super-fresh and very crisp, but also polished, this is an exciting introduction to Etna dry whites. Fair length. A blend of indigenous grapes, dominated by Carricante. Leeuwenkuil, Chenin Blanc 2021 – R85
'Classically honied and peachy, this wine displays real depth and breadth with aromatics of honey on warm white toast, lemon pastille, wet straw and toasted apple strudel. Creamy and plush, the palate boasts luxurious notes of tangerine, pineapple and white peach together with a real textural depth and a wonderfully polished, balanced glycerol length on the finish. For the money, this is really very impressive indeed and displays everything that’s exciting about affordable ‘value’ Chenin Blanc from the Swartland. Skylark, Cinsault 2021 – R190
'Skylark 2017 sees Dommisse working with Justin van Wyk of Constantia Glen and Beau Constantia fame, grapes from old Darling bush vines and the winemaking involving 100% whole-bunch fermentation before seven months of maturation in old oak. It has a relatively complex nose of red fruit, candy floss, earth and spice. The palate, meanwhile, is seemingly quite rich and broad despite a moderate alcohol of 12%. Unpresuming and all the more likeable as a result.' – Christian Eedes,, 89/100

Radford Dale, Vinum Pinotage – R195
‘Darkish cherry red but the colour is not saturated. Delicate and fragrant aroma of dark, wild (as opposed to domesticated) fruits, especially blackberry and even a hint of something more red-fruited like cranberry. Light note of vanilla appears on the day after opening. Delicious balance of juicy fruit and dense but fine tannins. Refined, lively and long. What an achievement to get this much flavour and balance at just 11.5% alcohol. Way to go.’ – Julia Harding MW,, 16.5

‘Hand harvested and sorted. Wild ferment led by carbonic maceration to reveal the fruit character of Pinotage. This whole-berry ferment took place in open 600l wooden fermenters for a soft extraction of colour, flavour & tannins.
