Van Loggerenberg Wines, Geronimo Cinsaut 750ml 2019South Africa, Stellenbosch
'From a blend of two Helderberg vineyards, one a 27 year old plot and the other a 42 year old plot. Similar to 2017, the 2019 fruit was exposed to warm days but cooler nights allowing the wine to retain a delicate perfume and intricate aromatics. There are fabulous crystalline red berry fruits, red cherry, cranberry and rose water nuances. The palate is taut and vibrant, crunchy and tart with a seductive sweet sour acidity, bright red cherry zest, savoury depth, pithy salinity and a long, spicy, Turkish delight finish. This is a very serious expression and a real flag bearer for the variety.' – Greg Sherwood MW, 93+/100
'From Stellenbosch Cinsault, one in Firgrove planted in 1978 and the other in Bottelary planted in 1989. 100% whole-bunch fermented. An utterly seduction nose with notes of red cherry, rose, pomegranate and herbs. The palate is light-bodied with lemon-like acidity and powdery tannins. Lovely purity and clarity while simultaneously being almost ephemeral.' – Christian Eedes, WineMag.co.za, 93/100

About Van Loggerenberg Wines:
Van Loggerenberg Wines was started by Lukas and wife Roxanne with their first vintage in 2016. The 2019 vintage is the fourth release for Lukas – a rising star, Young Gun and 2018 Young Winemaker of the Year by Tim Atkin. Lukas grew up in Rawsonville in the Breederivier valley, and was always surrounded by vineyards and wine. His wines are produced in the Devon Valley and the grapes are sourced from Stellenbosch, Paarl and Swartland. Each wine and it’s name has a specific story behind it and his wines have become extremely sought-after. ‘Pretty damn hot,’ says Christian Eedes raving about his previous releases.
