Tasting notes:
'From a Polkadraai vineyard planted on granite. Spontaneously fermented and matured for 10 months in stainless steel tank. The nose shows some struck-matched reduction before pear, lemon with a little oatmeal character in the background. The palate shows wonderful balance with lovely fruit purity, zesty acidity and a pithy finish. Light-bodied and ultra-refreshing.' – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 92/100

About the label:
As the name suggests, Lukas had to undergo two big knee surgeries in their first harvest season, as is shown by the leg in a brace on the label and the silhouette of the man plotting his next move. With the help of great friends and family it all came together in the end and this wine is a celebration of hard times that you have to overcome and to never give up. In the same way one wishes to perform to 'break a leg', the name celebrates all the hard work we put in to achieve our goals.

Producer information Van Loggerenberg Wines was started by Lukas and wife Roxanne with their first vintage in 2016. The 2019 vintage is the fourth release for Lukas – a rising star, Young Gun and 2018 Young Winemaker of the Year by Tim Atkin. Lukas grew up in Rawsonville in the Breederivier valley, and was always surrounded by vineyards and wine. His wines are produced in the Devon Valley and the grapes are sourced from Stellenbosch, Paarl and Swartland. Each wine and it's name has a specific story behind it and his wines have become extremely sought-after. 'Pretty damn hot,' says Christian Eedes raving about his previous releases.
