'50% of grapes from Polkadraai Hills, 50% from Faure, the former portion picked early and under-going whole-bunch fermentation, and the latter slightly delayed and destemmed. Striking aromatics of red and blackberries, olive, herbs, tomato leaf, and a hint of violets. The palate is medium-bodied and nicely poised – good fruit definition, fresh acidity, and some crunch to the tannins.' – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 94/100

Winemaker's notes on the label:
The name Breton is from the old French name in the Loire for Cabernet Franc. We chose this name as it was in the Loire valley that we made the final decision to start Van Loggerenberg Wines. The silhouette of the woman symbolizes the elegance of Cabernet Franc and is emphasized again by the Percheron horse. This breed is always perceived as this rough brute of a horse but in my view is very elegant and in that way similar to Cabernet Franc to me -firm but with great elegance to it. The landmark on the label is in the Bluegum Grove vineyard used in the wine, which was the only vineyard in the first vintage of 2016.

Producer information Van Loggerenberg Wines was started by Lukas and wife Roxanne with their first vintage in 2016. The 2019 vintage is the fourth release for Lukas – a rising star, Young Gun and 2018 Young Winemaker of the Year by Tim Atkin. Lukas grew up in Rawsonville in the Breederivier valley, and was always surrounded by vineyards and wine. His wines are produced in the Devon Valley and the grapes are sourced from Stellenbosch, Paarl and Swartland. Each wine and it’s name has a specific story behind it and his wines have become extremely sought-after. ‘Pretty damn hot,’ says Christian Eedes raving about his previous releases.
