‘Focused and pure aromas of blueberries and blackcurrants with plenty of flowers, such as violets. Full-bodied, firm and velvety with firm tannins and a flavorful finish.’ – James Suckling,, 90/100

‘Made of 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc from vines more than 50 years old, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Les Tours de Laroque opens with pretty raspberry coulis, black cherries and warm plums scents with underlying fungi, black loam and cracked pepper hints plus a touch of beef drippings. Medium to full-bodied, elegant and fresh, with a firm line of grainy tannins, it delivers a graceful, earthy finish. 2019-2029’ – Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate, 89/100

‘The 2016 Les Tours de Laroque is a pleasant, fruity wine to drink now and over the next handful of years, while the red cherry and plum fruit retains its vinous freshness and juiciness. 2018-2024’ – Antonio Galloni, 88/100

Producer information Laroque is Saint-Émilion's largest property, but the real value lies beneath the surface – in its variation of red, blue, and fine clay combined with limestone – as well as in its extraordinary vines. The '70s and '80s saw a drive among the Bordelais to bring in new, earlier ripening clones that could handle the cooler, wetter climate from preceding decades. Laroque didn't plant any of these clones and so the vineyards are still made up of massal selection*** vines, older than 50 years on average, and some dating back to the 1930s! The combination of limestone variations and a truly unique genetic old-vine heritage results in wines of incredible precision, depth, and structure.
