‘36% Tempranillo, 24% Alicante Bouschet, 18% Touriga Nacional, 8% Pontac, 7% Souzao, 7% Touriga Franca. Matured for 12 months in third-fill barrels. Heady aromatics of dark berries, flowers and herbs while the fruit is very much to the fore on the palate – juicy, rich and full with bright acidity and crunchy tannins. | Producer information | Thistle and Weed was created in 2015 by Fairview winemaker Stephanie Wiid and Delheim viticulturist Etienne Terblanche. These Young Gunners first burst onto the scene with their maiden-release 2016 Thistle & Weed Duwweltjie Chenin Blanc which garnered a Platter’s 5 star. They produce artisan wines, focusing primarily on Chenin Blanc, and their grapes are sourced from organic and responsibly farmed vineyards from different parts of the Cape. |
